THE YOUNG PRODIGIES
Nine-year-old
twin sisters from Russia, Masha and Nastya Tolmachev, have won most of
the voices of the 25-million audience at the Eurovision Song Contest in
Bucharest. In a live voting the Tolmachev sisters were gearing up for sure
victory running far ahead of the rest of the young performers from 15 countries.
- The sisters come from the old Russian city of Kursk, often referred
to as a country of nightingales. Masha and Nastya revealed clear vocal
abilities at 4 and at 6 their parents took them to the "Sverchok"
Pop Studio.
- Three years on, the duet has won worldwide acclaim and the hearts of
European audiences who were struck by both their singing and charismatic
childish manner of performance as they reacted with such a captivating
joy to the assessment from the audiences.
- The Tolmachev sisters were among the youngest at the Eurovision Contest
and the pretty song they came there with they wrote themselves with the
assistance of their teacher. Springtime Jazz the way it was performed in
Bucharest.
- After the contest the girls' plans for the future have changed. If
earlier they dreamed of becoming doctors, now they are planning to become
high-class performers. And the first step in this direction has been made.
On which occasion they received hearty greetings from the Russian President
Vladimir Putin.
